The business at the heart of a wild joy ride after youths stole one of its utes has pleaded with people to share footage of the incident with police.

Police have charged two 14-year-olds following the incident.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers responded to reports of two vehicles allegedly being driven dangerously through several suburbs this morning, which led to a pursuit of the vehicles.

A Mitsubishi Triton was abandoned on Caloundra Rd about 7.50am and police arrested two people in nearby bushland.

The second vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner, was last seen heading towards Brisbane and had not been recovered.

The Triton was allegedly stolen from an address in Mudjimba overnight.

The spokeswoman said a Mazda CX-5 was also allegedly stolen from the same place overnight, and that vehicle also remains outstanding and could also be travelling in the Brisbane area.

An Ambrose Construct Group spokesman said a staff member’s home was broken into while he sleeping and the alleged thieves took the work ute and another car belonging to the staff member’s wife.

“Thankfully no one was hurt and now it’s in the hands of the police and our insurance company,” the spokesman said in a social media post.

“If anyone has dashcam footage, especially of the other vehicles, including any images of the balaclava wearing and not balaclava wearing occupants, I am sure the police would be grateful to receive it.”

The spokesman ended the post by acknowledging “Sunny Coasters” who called the office and the police tracking the stolen ute.

Earlier, one witness said on social media it was a group of youths.

“What looked to be high school aged kids with (allegedly) stolen vehicles hit each other on Caloundra road shoulder coming out of Pierce Ave heading west,” they said.

“Car that was hit sped off down the shoulder towards the highway.

“Kids in the other vehicle jumped out into the bushes and left the ute in the road.

“Cops everywhere up and down main drag prior so must have been going on for a while this morning already.”

Another witness to the wild pursuit said the youths ran off into the bushes to hide from cops.

Anyone with information or dashcam is urged to contact police.
