Don't miss out on the headlines from Sunshine Coast. Followed categories will be added to My News.
After missing out last year due to Covid-19 the Sunshine Coast Marathon will return to the region’s roads on Sunday with 7000 runners set to lace up.
Runners were still able to contest a virtual run festival in 2020 but will be back soaking up the highs, lows and motivational atmosphere for the ninth edition.
Event distances include the Marathon (42.2), Half Marathon (21.1), 10km, 5km and the 2km.
The full and half distance races will start at 6am, with the 10km at 9am, the 5km at 10.15am and the 2km at 11am.
The 5km race will also double as the Queensland State Championships for the distance.
An event merchandise store will be open from 10am-4pm on Saturday and 6.30am-12.30pm on Sunday.
The Sunshine Coast Marathon has raised more than $1.5 million for charity and community groups since its inception.
The event’s major beneficiary is Ronald McDonald House.
The start/finish is near the Alex Surf Club, with the course passing through Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Cotton Tree.
