A number of Sunshine Coast fire crews have managed to contain a large grass fire which at one stage threatened homes at Pacific Paradise.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said crews were called to the scene off Godfreys Road at 5pm on Tuesday.

She said seven crews, six of which were rural, worked to fight the blaze which started on “inaccessible land” after a vehicle was “involved in a fire”.

“At one point there were concerns for some nearby houses however no house is under threat currently,” she said.

She said the slow moving grass fire had ripped through six hectares, with crews in the process of backburning to help contain and reduce the fuel load on the property.

She said, as of 6pm, that 90 per cent of the fire was contained and almost fully out.

There was a smoke warning for the Pacific Paradise and surrounding suburbs during the incident.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were initially on standby at the scene but were not required.
