The Sunshine Coast has copped another drenching overnight with the combined rainfall for the 48 hours to 9am at more than 140mm in some places.

The heavy rain has created carparks on some major roads with Main Roads reporting traffic at a standstill around the access roads in and out of Chancellor Park at Sippy Downs this morning.

Just after 10.30am this morning, police and ambulance crews were called to a truck roll over on Mons Road at Forest Glen. The accident happened about 100m down from Parsons Road. The truck was reported to be upright but had lost its load near Mons School Road.

Earlier an 11-year-old girl was hit while riding her bike to school on the Steve Irwin Way at Beerburrum.

Police have also been called in to direct traffic at several locations on the Sunshine Coast without working traffic lights, including the Buderim-Mooloolaba Road intersection leading into Maroochydore's Sugar Road and Wises Road.

The heavy rain has also forced the cancellation of today's resumption of racing at Corbould Park after the horse flu virus. The races will now be held on Monday.

The weather bureau says the rain is expected to continue today but not be as heavy though this morning it continued to bucket down.

In the 48 hours until 9am, Yandina Creek has had 141mm of rain, Cooroy has had 137mm, Maleny has had 133mm, Eumundi 132mm, Maroochydore has had 127mm while nearby Picnic Point had 131mm.

Caloundra had 87mm, Sugarbag Road 98mm, Parreara Weir at Kawana on 107mm, Tanawha 121mm, Bundilla 87mm, Mountain Creek 96mm, Landsborough 72mm, and Beerwah 54mm.

Mapleton had 90mm, Dunethin road 118mm, Doonan Creek 114mm, Coolum 105mm, Nambour 99, Palmwoods 96mm, and Boreen Point 80mm.

Lake Coorooiah in the Noosa hinterland has had 95mm, Mt Tinbeerwah 123mm, Tewantin 84mm, Noosa Heads 102mm, Baroon Pocket 85mm, Imbil 33mm, Pomona 93mm, Coora 69mm and Gympie 50mm.

The heavy rain has prompted pothole warnings from Main Roads.

Potholes have formed in both directions of the Bruce Highway between Nambour Bli Bli interchange and Maroochydore Road interchange, also south bound at Cooroy Hill. Motorists are advised to slow down and take care in these areas.

Water is also over road on Louis Bazzo Drive at Six Mile, Pomona. The road is closed and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

Potholes are also forming in both directions of Yandina-Coolum Road, Yandina Creek with drivers advised to proceed with caution.
