Fire crews have extinguished a ferocious blaze which briefly shut down the Bruce Hwy on the Sunshine Coast this morning.
Multiple emergency crews rushed to the northbound lanes of the busy highway, north of the Maroochydore Rd roundabout at Forest Glen, about 6.20am on Saturday after a vehicle rolled onto its side.
A Queensland Fire spokesman said two crews arrived about 6.30am to find the vehicle “totally involved” but were able to extinguish the blaze about 6.50am and make the scene safe.
Both lanes were blocked to traffic as fire crews worked to put out the inferno.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said a woman in her 40s was treated for non life threatening injuries to her arm, while a man in his 60s was assisted for neck pain.
Both were taken to Nambour Hospital in stable conditions.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the highway was reopened at 7.45am.
Driver in hospital after car crashes into Sunshine Coast home
Earlier, a man was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a building in the Sunshine Coast.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesman said the vehicle crashed into a house along McKenzie Rd in Woombye at 2.35am on Saturday.
He said paramedics treated the 17-year-old male driver who was taken to Sunshine Coast University in a stable condition.
It is understood the vehicle was a small truck like those typically used in the construction industry.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman investigations were ongoing.
