A FEW overnight showers have cleared to a stunning but windy autumn day on the Sunshine Coast.

A Bureau of Meteorology forecaster issued a strong wind warning up to the Coast waters today, but said it was likely to ease through to tomorrow.

Wet weather brought a cool change last night, with temperatures dropping to 14.8C by 2.30am at Sunshine Coast Airport.

Bellbird Creek residents received 15mm of rain due to heavier falls, yet most areas experienced less than 10mm overnight.

The forecaster said the weekend's weather should be mostly sunny, recording temperatures to sit at 23C in Maroochydore both Saturday and Sunday.

Warmer weather was set to increase into early next week, she said, with days an average of 25C and a minimum of 19-20C.

A slight chance of showers is expected over the weekend offshore, with rain hitting the Coast on Tuesday or Wednesday.

"We're not expecting anything particularly heavy, rain is expected to reach up to 5mm,” she said.
