Top tips for the Sunshine Coast horse racing for August 8 race meet

The top picks and who to watch ahead of Sunday’s Sunshine Coast race meeting to help you come away a winner.

Racing gets underway again at the Sunshine Coast with an eight race card in store.

The weather has been good all week and the track is set to be run on a good surface with the rail out 10 metres.

A few familiar faces such as James Orman, Baylee Nothdurft and Justin Huxtable return to the track for their first ride of the new season.

There will be no crowd in attendance due to the lockdown restrictions.

The first race is set to begin at 1.20pm and concluding with the final race being run under lights at 5.40pm.

After securing three from four winning tips last weekend we’ve picked out our top picks to help you walk away a winner once again.

Best Bet - Race 6, 4. Tycoon Bella

Next Best - Race 7, 3. The Ritz

Best Value - Race 4, 2. Leroytheconqueror

Race 4

2. Leroytheconqueror (2) T: Damien Batters J: Jake Bayliss (59.0kg)

Resuming today after a 29 week break and runs well at the Sunshine Coast placing three times and winning three times from its nine starts.

The distance is a tick and is drawn to be able to settle off the speed.

Is expected to sit pretty in the run and can run well if a gap appears.

If back in good order can be a serious player and looks a good each way bet.

Race 5

3. Lucifers Loot (5) T: N McCall J: J Orman (59kg)

Blundered the jump last start as well as the rider losing the whip.

Tried to lead throughout but was nipped late to finish second.

Has a heap of speed and will need to perform at it’s best to match motors with the short priced favourite Mary Valley.

Has strong claims and is expected to fight out the finish.

Race 6

4. Tycoon Bella (8) T: N McCall J: J Orman (59.5kg)

Resuming today after being freshened and is an ex Victorian trained mare who has been beaten both starts as favourite for Natalie McCall.

Was able to finish 1 length of the winner last start.

Gets the increase in distance although untested at a mile.

Will run fitter and is well placed here. James Orman on board is promising.

Should be in the mix and is a big chance.

Race 7

3. The Ritz (5) T: Michael Costa J: James Orman (59kg)

Has had a flying start to his career and now resumes back from a 33 week spell.

Two trials to get ready and James Orman booked to ride is a positive given he was the hoop in the latest trial.

Is perfectly placed and is hard to steer away given the form show last campaign.

Danger looks to be the number 10 Aswaat but hard to knock the favourite here. Leading chance.
