THE goals were flowing yesterday at Fishermans Road, but just not for Maroochy-Northshore.

Palm Beach Currumbin, the 2009 Pineapple Hotel Cup premier, produced a silky display to thrash the Roos 31.9 (195) to 6.8 (44).

Korey Fulton was the chief destroyer for the Lions, kicking 12 goals before being rested midway through the final quarter.

Palm Beach Currumbin dominated the Roos all over the park, their run from half-back and strong marking inside the forward 50 leaving Maroochy-Northshore powerless.

Roos coach Roger Delaney said he rated the Lions the most skilful side in the competition.

“I thought we tried hard today, but we just played really bad,” he said.

“For me, they’re the most skilful team in the competition ... they played really well, were fantastic.

“We kicked 16 goals against them last time, but they kicked 26. Their use of the ball is fantastic and they are fit.

“They just run forward, run back. I think they’re the fittest team I’ve seen and that makes a huge difference in this competition.”

Dylan Weikhardt bagged a couple of goals for the Roos and e Peter Hay provided a strong target in the forward 50.

Without ruckman Tyson Williams, however, Maroochy-Northshore struggled to win any clearances and did not have the artillery to stop Fulton up front.

Delaney said the last fortnight of the regular season would give him an opportunity to blood some young talent.

“In the next couple of weeks we’ll have four or five 17-year-olds playing because they (under-18s) finish their season tomorrow,” he said.

“The young kids are really skilful, good players, so the more we can play them now, hopefully it will help develop them.”

Noosa shot to the top of the ladder yesterday with a commanding 41-point victory over Sandgate in a replay of last year’s grand final.
