Up and coming Sunshine Coast horse racing trainer Damien Batters says his stable’s rapid growth couldn't be more exciting after uncovering a number of promising race horses.

Batters’ small stable holds just 12 horses but he already boasts 21 career wins to his name.

He said it had been a crazy past couple of months.

“It’s all jumped up quite quickly over the past month as we’ve pretty much doubled in size,” he said.

“If we can keep moving forward and continuing to grow we know we’re doing well as a team.”

The former South Australian originally moved to the Gold Coast before settling on the Sunshine Coast at his Valdora stable.

Batters said he enjoyed working from his remote stable and believed the horses did too.

“We used to train on course but our stables are a lot bigger here and the view we have in front of us is a clear reason why we train from here,” he said.

“The horses are able to get out and it’s definitely easier to train from here because we find them to be a lot more happier too.

“I love training on the Sunshine Coast so I’ll never leave again as this is definitely home now.”

The stable was also home to a 1000m grass track that Batters said allowed the horses to settle in before heading to the Corbould Park track.

“We take them into the Sunshine Coast for them to do their fast work and also a bit of slow work but the 1000m track here is another bonus we have,” he said.

“We use it a lot and we can get up to pace work if we need which is a good education tool for a lot of the young horses.”

Top horses from the stable included six-year-old gelding Leroy The Conqueror and four-year-old mare Expensive to Keep.

Batters said promising three-year-old gelding Blue Pacific was one that punters should keep an eye on.
