Fishing guru Scott Hillier shares an update on Sunshine Coast conditions for boaties

Sunshine Coast fishing guru Scott Hillier says the cool conditions forecast for this weekend won’t stop boaties from reeling in good quality bream.

Conditions

Wind is forecast for the weekend, so for those keen to brave the cool, rivers and creeks will be the option along with the open beaches.

Species on the chew

Bream are around in really good numbers in all rivers and beaches.

Both tides are producing fish for bait and strips of mullet, prawns, mullet gut and gar are all working fished on a light running ball sinker.

If fishing in among the rock walls, even try unweighted baits and let it float around. The bigger fish are being caught this way.

The Maroochy, Noosa and Coochin Creek all producing fish, as well as the beaches to the northern end of the Coast.

Look for nice deep gutters and the first of the run in tide prime bite.

There’s still a few flathead being caught by those trolling and casting small plastics plus some cracking whiting taking live yabbies up in the shallows and the odd grunter mixed in with them.
