Coast teenager Louis Werchon says he's ready to take his game to a new level after taking part in a Wallabies training camp with some of the best athletes in the country.

The 18-year-old was part of the junior Wallabies training squad that was based in Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport for the week long camp.

Werchon moved from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane earlier this year and currently plays for Brothers Rugby Club in the premier grade and colts divisions.

He said an opportunity to train alongside some of the country's best rugby union players was an amazing experience.

"It was awesome and I was pretty surprised to be selected actually," he said.

"It was good to get an idea of where I am at as a player and to be able to compare myself to the other blokes that are being noticed by those elite clubs."

Other Coast juniors selected in the squad were Mason Gordon (Melbourne Rebels) and Harry Vella (Brisbane Brothers).

Werchon, who plays as a halfback, said to see players progress through the elite ranks that were playing on the Coast not too long ago was a massive inspiration.

"Tate (McDermott) is the biggest one as he just won a comp with the Reds and has played for the Wallabies in recent years," Werchon said.

"Growing up alongside Carter and Mason Gordon and seeing the work they have put in to get to that elite level gives me an idea of what I need to do to get there."

If Werchon continues to improve, his goal of getting a Super Rugby contract and one day playing the sport he loves overseas don't seem to far fetched.

"My main goal at the moment is to play my best footy and to hopefully get a contract to a Super Rugby team," he said.
