Coaches nominate: QAFL and QAFLW reveal the biggest pests of 2023

From the major “sh*t talkers” to those with “non-stop antics”, QAFL and QAFLW head coaches have lightheartedly revealed their club’s ‘biggest pests’, both on and off the field.

As the QAFL and QAFLW finals quickly approach, it’s time for coaches to have their next say in our 2023 ‘coaches nominate.’

Each week we reveal a new lot of special talent, from the toughest and the loudest, to the best ball winners and most improved.

This week we reveal each club’s biggest pests, both on and off the field.

Each nomination was with love from each side’s head coach, of course.

All coaches were approached for comment before the time of publishing

QAFL

Maroochydore, Ben Jones: “We‘ve probably got a few and there’s a few that like to have some fun with their footy. Sam McKenzie is notorious at running the humour at our club so he’s right up there and then probably Ben Thomas in terms of always wanting to steal a footy and kick a goal.”

Morningside, Paul Egan: “Marcus Peak”

Noosa, Chris Rourke: “Wil O’Dwyer, comfortably.”

Wilston Grange, Brent Moloney: “A few nominations such as Hugh Fidler, Kailem Baker would be up there and also Lachie Nixon-Smith.”

Palm Beach Currumbin, Jess Sinclair: “Would have to be Tyler Cornish.”

Redland Victoria Point, Phil Carse: “I’d probably have to give it to Brock Aston and Billy Johnson who are generally up for the most antics.”

Aspley Hornets: “Ange Lingard. A pest both on and off the field and she knows it.”

Yeronga: “Taylah Welch”. On-field, on the nerves. Laura Wagner. Off-field, good for the banter, what you want for off field sh*t-talker.

University of QLD: Lucy “Hicks. Certainly off the field, with cheeky nicknames on rotation for everyone.”

Coorparoo Kings: “Taya Oliver.”

Maroochydore Roos: “All of them. They have their unique quirks and are young and want to get better.”
