FROM legs behind ears to split jumps in the air, you name it - there's nothing the girls of Calisthenics Buderim can't do.

With 25 years passing since the club was established, it's time to celebrate for one of the top clubs in the state.

One of the three founding members, Lyndy Tolliday, said the team sport was in her blood.

"Once you start it's hard to stop because we just love it,” she said.

"To think that it is 25 years old and the three original members are still involved in some way is great.”

Mrs Tolliday was proud to see the club reach an impressive milestone.

"It's pretty satisfying,” she said.

"It's taken a lot of people to keep this club going because it's not easy running a non-for-profit organisation.

"I would never have thought 25 years ago that it would still be going strong.”

The club has become a family for Mrs Tolliday.

"All the girls turn out to be so lovely and we spend a lot of time together,” she said.

"They all learn how to be a part of a team, and the young girls aspire to be like the older girls in the club.”

With 98 girls enrolled, Mrs Tolliday believes calisthenics has grown in popularity due to the versatility.

"It's a great sport because you're incorporating ballet and gymnastics, which I think is what the girls actually love,” she said.

Calisthenics Buderim caters for girls aged from two to 26 and above and trains at the Mountain Creek State Primary School.

The club will be celebrating its 25th birthday with an evening full of dancing, canapes and reminiscing at the Headland Golf Club on June 29, from 6.30-11.30pm.
