A year on from launching their Queensland assault, the Neasham satellite stable has outlined aims for the season plus their top two chances for this Saturday’s bumper Doomben card.

The Annabel Neasham stable has continued to break down barriers after a cracking first official Queensland season.

The stable finished inside the top 10 Queensland metropolitan trainers rankings last season with 23 wins and 55 placings from 181 starts, while at the provincial level they had 34 wins and 60 placings from 165 starts.

Annabel Neasham’s Brisbane stable manager Todd Pollard said it had been a successful first season.

“It’s gone by very quickly but it’s been a great move for us as I think the two stables complement each other really well,” he said.

“Hopefully for Annabel she can rely on us as a team as she’s very busy down in Sydney so we just try to take a bit of pressure off her which I think she appreciates.”

Pollard worked under Neasham Sydney for one and a half years before relocating to the Gold Coast in May, 2022 and then securing boxes at Eagle Farm in September.

The 29-year-old said he hoped the stable could improve on their 2022/23 performances after they recently secured a property in Canungra.

“We can have up to 50 horses in work at any time with 31 boxes at Eagle Farm plus stables at a property in Canungra which we took over about four months ago,” he said.

“That’s been great as it’s got a grass track, treadmill, swimming pool and water walker so the horses often bounce back a lot better after a run or just enjoy their time out there a lot more.

“I was actually surprised with how well we went last season, obviously it helps being a satellite stable, but it’d be great to achieve a winner per box this season.

“Another real thrill for our stable would be to see a few of our two, now three-year-olds that have been with us from the start to progress through to stakes company.”

With five nominated runners for Saturday’s Doomben meeting Pollard said he was eager to see how two of his runners could perform.

“Addriel is one that was broken in up here and is owned by Peachester Lodge so he’s been with us since day one,” he said.

“He certainly shows plenty of ability and is knocking on the door to get a decent win.

“The other would be Victory Win who’s transferred to us this prep and has had one start for one win so looks to have good ability as well.

“It’s probably a matter of testing them this weekend against some better three-year-olds to see if they’re up to it.”
