KATE Street is one of those locations that embody so much of what the Sunshine Coast is about.
A short street just one block up from the beach at Alexandra Headland, it is at the heart of the Coast property's famed golden triangle. So it has attracted some influential property owners during the years.
Among them was Betts-Ann Coats who started the Boolarong restaurant and motel opposite the beach in the 1960s.
Continuing that theme is the two-bedroom, one-bathroom home on 911sq m at 6 Kate St that goes to auction at 2pm Saturday with Lew Pottinger and Judy Wild of Ray White Buderim.
It's the first time in 65 years the property has been put up for sale, after it was moved to the site from Nambour.
The owner Grace Goode, now a proud recipient of an Order of Australia as well as a letter from Queen Elizabeth II, grew up in the Maroochydore area.
And her love of horticulture, bromeliads in particular, has seen her visited by garden-lovers from around the world as well as television gardening shows.
Her brother started the original Jack Evans porpoise pool at Tweed Heads, on the Queensland border.
"The house is basically the same as 65 years ago,'' Lew Pottinger said. "It's like walking into the beach house our family had.
"All of those memories come flooding back.''
"The property is zoned medium density so it has attracted a diverse range of buyers - from developers to being a really good site to build a landmark home on. There are views and size, so it fits both purposes.''
Interest has been mainly local, Mr Pottinger said.
"They appreciate the location. But Brisbane buyers too.''
Another Coast property held for many years is set to to auction on Sunday.
Mike Burns of Burns Property has been getting good interest in the three-bedroom, one-bathroom house on 26.3ha at 90 Tania Ave, Palmwoods, ahead of the auction at 2pm.
And little wonder, the owners were former pineapple farmers who lived there for 70 years.
Mike has prior registrations for the auction, with interest mostly local but from Brisbane and interstate as well.
The property abutts national park and is on a dead-end road, so it's quiet and peaceful with great great views from the top of the block.
