A Noosa couple has appealed to the public to help find the owner of a dog who brutally attacked their dog last week.
A relaxing riverside stroll almost turned into tragedy for Rhiannon Claire and her wife after their beloved dog Billie was viciously attacked by another dog.
Ms Claire was terrified after a staffy cross latched on to Billie near The Boathouse at Noosaville's Gympie Tce last Thursday.
"Many people have expressed their horror at the unprovoked nature of the attack," Ms Claire said.
"Billie didn't even have time to notice the other dog was near her before it had lunged at her face."
After Billie was finally freed from the staffy's jaws the pair rushed her to the vet, where X-rays revealed she has a fractured jaw and a ruptured palate requiring surgery.

Ms Claire said Billie is now back home and recovering.
She will have her jaw wired for six weeks.
"We're giving her lots of love and hoping that she bounces back to her beautiful little self," Ms Claire said.
"She is being fed a liquid diet through a tube and is reacting to the situation like an absolute champion.
"We're really appreciative of the community's support - a lot of people have come forward who were at the scene to offer information and support."
Ms Claire said they were still trying to track down the owner of the other dog.
"The owner left the scene without providing his details," Ms Clare said.
"We are doing this because we would hate for another family to go through this experience.
"The owner's actions were irresponsible and we hope that it does not lead to another family or worse a child being attacked in a public area."
Ms Claire reported the attack to Noosa Council and appealed on social media for information.
She described the man as a middle-aged man with brown hair in a blue shirt.
