WITNESSES are reporting roads are closed in Caloundra as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services warns residents to be aware of a bushfire burning in the area.
An update issued from authorities at 6.15pm advised people in the area of Sugarbag Rd and Queen St to keep up to date and decide what actions to take if the situation changes.
The fire is burning near Sugarbag Rd and Queen St travelling in a north-easterly direction.
“Smoke may affect Moffatt Beach and surrounding areas, which will reduce visibility and air quality,” an emergency services spokesman said.
He said properties were not under direct threat at this time.
Witnesses said Queen St had been blocked near Caloundra State High School.
“Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.”
