Resident installs cameras after youths allegedly threaten to 'bash them'
Coolum residents have installed security cameras after months of youth harassment, with one man claiming up to 30 teens threatened to “bash” him at his home.
Teens are allegedly wreaking havoc in a quiet Coolum street, with one resident installing cameras following alleged water bombing attacks and threats to ‘bash them’.
Perry St resident Scott Hayes said water bombing began in late February and continued for several months.
He alleges a group of girls was involved and started “baiting” him.
He said a large group of youths harassed him at his home in early September.
“On September 5, a full moon Friday, at 7.05pm, there was a huge bashing on our door,” he said.
“When I went outside to look, I was confronted with 20 to 30 teens on the street, trying to goad me out to the street so they could ‘bash me’.
“The harassment continued all weekend and during the week until the police made their presence known.”
More recently, a teen was captured on security footage throwing ‘an object’ at a car on the same street.
The footage shows a person looking left and right while holding an object and eventually throwing it at a red car passing by.
It comes six months after multiple cars were hit with rocks thrown off a Noosa bridge.
Mr Hayes said a group of a similar description “targeted his car” outside Coolum Beach McDonald’s.
He said he was disappointed in the state government for not acting faster.
In September, QPS launched Operation Xray Sorcerer to tackle youth crime.
