Rescuers reach injured climber stranded on tricky peak

A night rescue is under way on the side of a Sunshine Coast peak notorious for bringing climbers unstuck.

A NIGHT rescue is under way on the side of a Sunshine Coast peak notorious for bringing climbers unstuck.

Emergency services were called to Mt Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains at 5.40pm Monday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a 23-year-old man had suffered an ankle injury after reportedly falling or slipping about 100m in wet conditions.

The spokeswoman said crews found the man about 50m from the base.

Firefighters were helping paramedics to bring the man to safety.
