Pure Sunshine Coast magic caught from the air

How a two-time world kite board champion coped when the swell of the decade came to his home break and he was shorebound by injury.

KEAHI de Aboitiz is usually the one being videoed and photographed when comes to wave riding and that's been the case since he was about 11 years old.

The professional kite surfer is a two-time world KSP champion and no slouch either on a SUP, travelling the world to not only compete but to surf and shoot video at all the best breaks.

Recent injury saw Keahi out of the water when waves-of-the decade conditions whipped two weeks ago by an East Coast Low.

Instead of being part of the action Keahi was either at the controls of a drone shooting video of a group of his mates surf big Sunshine Beach or was snapping photos.

"As Good as it Gets" was shot in a day at Sunshine Beach and features Harrison Roach, Harry Bryant, Shaun Stevic and Dean Brady getting repeatedly barrelled on some of the best waves experienced anywhere on the east coast from the low pressure system.

Anyone who has ever claimed the Sunshine Coast does not get "real" waves has been well and truly put in their place by this video clip.
