Waterfront apartment complex in Golden Beach to be raffled off in new RSL plans

A beachside home in a “10 out of 10 location” could be bulldozed to make way for a luxurious apartment complex designed for a prize home lottery. See the plans.

A multimillion-dollar apartment complex in Golden Beach will be raffled off in a prize home lottery for RSL Qld, if a development application before council is approved.

The proposed development for a three-storey, four-unit complex, with a four bedroom penthouse, on 22 Landsborough Parade in Golden Beach sits just metres away from the waterfront facing the Pumicestone Passage and north Bribie Island.

The building plans also feature a rooftop pool and sun deck with a barbecue and outdoor kitchen, as well as a fire pit and vegetable garden.

Property records show the home sold in September, 2022 for $2.6m, after the former owners purchased it in 2012 for $890,000.

If Sunshine Coast Council approves the plans the 1995-built two-storey home currently at the Landsborough Parade block would be demolished to make way for the architecturally-designed apartments.

RSL Art Union lotteries general manager Deborah Pescott said the building would form a single large draw prize for 2027, giving one lucky winner the opportunity to own their own multimillion-dollar waterfront development.

“The building will consist of four apartments that will be raffled off in a single large draw in 2027,” she said.

$650 a week: Renting in coastal regions more expensive than cities

Ms Pescott said the total prize value of the home lottery was still yet to be confirmed but that all funds raised from the raffle would go towards helping veterans and their families.

Real estate agent David Miller has been selling units in Caloundra since the 1980s and said the development had an ideal location.

“The location near the town, near the oolies, you can walk to the CBD so it’s a 10 out of 10 location,” he said.

Mr Miller said the block, which currently has a single house on it, was one of many along the Caloundra coastline that would be prime for development.

“There’s an awful lot of houses along there that will get knocked down,” he said.

“But if it’s all within what is zoned, I don’t see any problem.”

Mr Miller said the property market in Caloundra is shifting and whoever won the prize home would do well in renting out the units.

“It’s changing from holiday units to permanent units,” he said.

“We’re seeing a change of culture whereby good product is scarce and, for the right product, prices have skyrocketed.”
