A man who allegedly drove his ute at police, forcing them to fire upon him, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Police said about 9pm last night, they were patrolling the Kedron area when their attention was drawn to a vehicle in Gympie Road.
Police intercepted the ute and it pulled over, however when officers approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly did a U-turn, drove over a median strip and sped away on the wrong side of the road.
When officers then found the vehicle a short time later, a brief pursuit began during which time police followed the utility into the Wavell State High School grounds.
Police approached the ute and it is alleged the man reversed his car at speed, stopped and then accelerated towards the officers.
A Queensland Police Service (QPS) firearm was discharged in an attempt to prevent the vehicle striking police.
No one was hurt during the incident.
The ute left the school and was later located at Caboolture where the alleged driver and sole occupant was arrested without incident.
The 24-year-old Murrumba Downs man is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the QPS firearm during the incident. This investigation will be overviewed by the Crime and Misconduct Commission.
