Woman charged over Nambour crash which critically injured young child

A Sunshine Coast woman allegedly had a drug in her system when she rolled a car, critically injuring a toddler. She’s faced court over the charges.

A woman has been charged after she allegedly caused a crash which critically injured a toddler last year.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had her matter mentioned in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 15 charged with one count of driving without due care and attention causing grievous bodily harm and one of driving whilst a drug is present in saliva or blood.

Court documents reveal the crash occurred on Lamington Terrace in Nambour on November 29, 2023.

Emergency services had attended a single-vehicle rollover about 6.30pm which left a young child with life threatening injuries.

The toddler had been flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the crash has since been charged over the toddler’s injuries and driving with drugs in her system.

Notes by a magistrate on court documents stated the woman has been directed to enter pleas to the charges during her next court appearance.

The woman is currently on bail and her matter was adjourned to July 22.

Documents listed her occupation as a cleaner.
