Four people have been charged with more than 40 drug and property-related offences after a recent crime “spike” in the Noosa region.

Noosa Police Acting Sergeant Jason Fogg said over the past few weeks there was “a spike” in alleged unlawful entries to property and unlawful use of cars in the region, mostly in Sunshine Beach and Tewantin.

He said that on July 12, a police search was conducted at a property in Tewantin and four people were arrested and charged with a total of 42 drug- and property-related offences.

All four are out on bail and will face court this month.

An 18-year-old man will face the Noosa Magistrates Court on July 18 and a 24-year-old man will face the same court on July 25.

The two 15-year-old teenage boys will face Maroochydore Children’s Court on July 19.

The latest arrests follow a Sunshine Coast nightclub owner’s plea for more information, and an offer of a reward, after his vehicle was stolen in March.

Post Office Hotel owner John Calcino’s home was allegedly broken into and a group nabbed his car keys before taking off with his distinctive Landcruiser.

The incident took place downstairs, with three dogs in the house and Mr Calcino and his three adult sons upstairs.

It was the second car stolen from Mr Calcino’s Buderim residence in six months.

Police data shows 175 unlawful entry offences were committed in the past year in the Noosa region, and more than 100 unlawful use of a motor vehicle offences had been recorded.

In the Sunshine Coast, nearly 1400 unlawful entry offences had been recorded in the past year and more than 540 unlawful use of motor vehicle offences were committed.
