A Nambour drink driver who flipped her car while driving children home from a friend’s house said she regrets getting behind the wheel.

Toni Jade Djorojevic was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for four months after she flipped a car on the Yandina-Coolum roundabout on November 5, 2021.

“The vehicle failed to negotiate the bend of the roundabout and resulted in it losing traction before leaving the carriage way and rolling onto its side,” police prosecutor Brendan Newman said.

The court heard the 28-year-old was trying to get home “as soon as possible” after a child in her care started having a tantrum.

“Due to the speed she was doing in the wet conditions she lost control then panicked and slammed on the brakes which resulted in loss of control,” Sergeant Newman said.

Other road users rushed to help Djorojevic and the two children before emergency services arrived.

Sergeant Newman said Djorojevic admitted to having “a number” of bourbon cans before getting behind the wheel and blew a reading of 0.119.

The court heard the full-time disability worker had a two-page traffic history with numerous speeding fines.

The Nambour resident, who pleaded guilty to driving over the middle alcohol limit, agreed she shouldn't have driven.

“If I could take it back I would,” she said.

Djorojevic’s hope of getting a work licence was quickly dashed when Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said her demerit point suspension within the last five years prevented her from applying.

Mr Stjernqvist said Djorojevic’s offending was too serious to impose the minimum three-month suspension period.
