A Central Queensland machine operator has tried to bite and spit at security at the Caloundra RSL after he got tanked the night before a child’s birthday party.

Timothy Shaune Roebuck had been drinking with family on the evening of May 13, 2022 when all hell broke loose for the 35-year-old Biloela man.

Caloundra Magistrates Court heard Roebuck had been cut off about 10.30pm but had been passed a drink by his partner which led to security asking him to leave.

Police prosecutor Stephen Potter said the machinery operator argued with security before he began to throw punches at them.

Roebuck was taken to the ground but Sergeant Potter said he tried to “bite and spit” at them during the scuffle and was removed from the venue.

Sergeant Potter said no formal assault complaints were made but security staff involved suffered minor cuts and bruising from the wrestle.

The court heard police arrived to reports a man had allegedly assaulted someone who worked at the club.

Security told police Roebuck was the man involved but the 35-year-old told them he wasn’t the person they were looking for.

Roebuck was then arrested by police and obstructed them before he was taken away and charged.

Solicitor Neesha Maidwell said the Biloela man had been visiting Caloundra for a child’s birthday party and had drunk too much at the RSL the night before the event.

Ms Maidwell said he had got his life back on track following a criminal history of drug-related offending.

Roebuck pleaded guilty to public nuisance and obstructing police and was fined $500.

He was then ordered to complete 40 hours’ community service.

Convictions were recorded.
