A 24-year-old man charged over an alleged rampage through the bustling centre of a riverside Noosa suburb has been denied bail.
Harrison Daniel Sidney Stig appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court via videolink from the Maroochydore Watch House on October 20, where he attempted to make an application for bail.
Duty lawyer Katie Patterson told the court Mr Stig said he was willing to adhere to bail conditions, however he did not have a place to live.
She told the court the prosecution had a strong case against him, with DNA and finger prints as well as allegations he was found at the scene.
He has been unemployed for five and a half months, she told the court, and has a 19-month-old son. He is not receiving Centrelink.
Magistrate Kurt Fowler told police prosecutor Allison Johnstone he did not need to hear from her.
Mr Fowler then denied Mr Stig bail and adjourned the matter until November 24, 2023. Mr Stig was remanded in custody.
Noosa police received multiple triple-0 phone calls about 9am on Thursday, October 19.
Noosa Police Acting Sergeant Jason Fogg said police rushed to the Tewantin central business district “under lights and sirens” following the phone calls.
Acting Sergeant Fogg said a 24-year-old Tewantin man allegedly scratched vehicles with instruments, kicked over motorbikes, graffitied the Tewantin RSL, removed a windscreen wiper off a Sunbus, did damage to other commercial buildings and more offences.
“He (allegedly) went on a disruptive rampage,” he said.
Police arrested the man in nearby Werin St about 10.30am.
He was charged with 16 offences including enter and commit property offences, multiple wilful damage offences, stealing and failing to appear.
He was denied police bail and transferred to the Maroochydore Watchhouse.
He is expected to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
Acting Sergeant Fogg said an investigation continued and police were still receiving complaints about the incident.
He said more charges were expected to be laid.
Anyone with information, or CCTV footage of the incident, should come forward to the Noosa Heads Police Station or via Policelink.
