Footage has been released of the moment a rider nearly collided with a police motorcycle while on the wrong side of the road in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Up to 38 arrests for 53 charges have flowed since the conclusion of Operation Hills by the Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol which took place over August 20-21, 2022.

Of the arrests the most serious occurred about 7.40am along Maleny Stanley River Rd at Wootha.

Police will allege four men on motorcycles were detected riding more than 30km/h faster than the 80 km/h speed limit, with two of the riders allegedly evading police by driving away dangerously before being located.

Police will allege a 30-year-old Mapleton man travelled more than 160km/h in an 80km/h zone, went on the wrong side of the road and almost collided with a police motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction.

The 30-year-old Mapleton man was issued with three fines totalling $646 and lost four demerit points while being charged with one count each of dangerous operation with excessive speed and evading police.

A 32-year-old Kings Beach man was fined $1322 and charged with one count each of dangerous operation with excessive speed and evading police.

Both men will appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on September 20, 2022 and had their motorcycles impounded for 90 days.

A 49-year-old Beerwah man was issued fines totalling $1078 and docked six demerit points while a 45-year-old Marcoola man was fined $143 and lost a demerit point.

Both were charged with contravening a direction and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 12, 2022.
