Disturbing details of the alleged rapes committed by a Sunshine Coast doctor can be revealed as his bid for bail was denied.

The alleged rapist, father and Christian had his bail refused in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 27 charges relating to three separate women.

The court heard the series of charges such as rape, choking, and torture stemmed from several dates between 2017 to 2022 from the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

Police prosecutor Mick Ruddiman said two women had allegedly met the Sunshine Coast doctor on a religious dating site called Christian Connection.

Bail affidavit documents reveal one of the alleged victims met the doctor in Maroochydore on March 13, 2022 where she was allegedly raped.

Police allege the doctor said “stop crying, you’re beautiful” while he raped her.

Another woman met up with the doctor on the Gold Coast on February 20, 2021 where police allege he physically restrained her and raped her.

According to court documents the woman repeatedly said “stop” saying she was saving herself for her husband.

The doctor allegedly replied “No it’s okay I teach you … you can trust me I’m a medical doctor”.

Sergeant Ruddiman said the man used his social standing as a doctor to control them through his “predatory tactics”.

The court was told a third woman came forward and provided police with evidence including a torn nightgown and a signed statement.

Details of the third woman’s experiences were revealed in court documents where police allege she was tortured, raped and strangled.

In one alleged rape, court documents say the doctor told the woman that he owned her and said “when I need it I can do whatever I want".

Solicitor Patrick Meehan told the court his client had been on the dating website because he was a Christian man who “went to church on Sundays”.

Police allege the man used his position as a doctor to manipulate his victims.

Mr Meehan said the doctor was also looking for a partner with the same “morality and religious belief”.

The court heard calls from the doctor and the alleged victims alluded to sex but there were no admissions that there was no consent.

Mr Meehan said there was no physical evidence and there had been no corroboration of what’s alleged.

Magistrate Kurt Fowler denied the doctor bail and said he was an unacceptable risk of interfering with witnesses and was a flight risk.

The doctor will have his matter due for mention on May 20, 2022, when he was due to face 19 counts of rape, three of choking, two of assault and one of sexual assault, attempted rape and torture.
