A Tewantin medical receptionist will be making the long trek to work in the mornings on foot after she risked it all driving drunk home after the Noosa Festival of Surfing without a licence.

Stephaine Clea Lynette Gedye, 25, lost her licence for two years and three months for driving drunk and disqualified on two separate dates.

The medical receptionist had been driving home from the Noosa Festival of Surfing on March 12, 2022 when she was pulled over in Sunshine Beach about 11.50pm, Noosa Magistrates Court heard.

Police prosecutor Alison Johnstone said Gedye returned a blood-alcohol content of 0.104 per cent roadside and told police she was unlicenced.

Defence lawyer Steven Brough said Gedye had originally driven to the event and planned to catch an uber home however her mate had an “emotional episode” and decided to drive her home.

Sergeant Johnstone said about 8.30am on April 12 2022 Noosa police pulled Gedye over once again in Tewantin on her way to work even though she was disqualified.

Mr Brough said Gedye didn’t know she had renew her licence after she lost her licence for a month on February 9 2022.

He told the court the 25-year-old would be walking at least an hour to open her work every morning with the loss of her licence.

“What a mess,” Magistrate Maxine Baldwin told Gedye in her sentencing.

Gedye pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving unlicensed and disqualified and was fined $850.

Convictions were recorded.
