A 20-year-old Sunshine Coast man accused of multiple rape and sexual assault offences has had his case adjourned for a month as his lawyer awaits an outstanding medical document.
Samuel Stephen Pekaj, who did not appear in person at Caloundra Magistrates Court on Thursday, is facing four counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of sexual assault involving genital and anal contact with the mouth.
Court records state the alleged offences occurred in 2024.
He was charged on November 4.
During Thursday’s hearing, Mr Pekaj’s lawyer informed the court that while they had received the brief of evidence, a medical statement from the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital was still missing, along with some DNA evidence.
He said the case could proceed in the meantime without the DNA results, but the doctor’s statement was necessary for the matter to move forward.
The case was adjourned until April 17.
