A Coast man who filmed his ex-partner without her permission while they had sex and as she was showering had the cameras installed during home renovations.
Raymond Charles Matthews pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday to recording in breach of privacy.
Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said the 57-year-old grandfather had installed cameras his Mountain Creek home, which he’d shared with his ex-partner.
The court heard the pair had during their relationship consensually made sex tapes together, however Matthews on three separate occasions filmed the woman without her permission after they broke up.
Sergeant Nitschke said the woman discovered she’d been filmed after Matthews told her while they were clearing out the house after they broke up.
High-profile media presenter charged with child rape
Matthews told her about how he’d installed a camera in the ceiling vent above the shower during a home renovation, which he then used to film her while she masturbated.
The court heard Matthews had been in the ceiling at the time while filming and had told his ex-partner he had “more videos than you realise”.
He had also filmed her without her permission two other times while the pair had consensual sex, once in their garage and another time in the bedroom.
Sergeant Nitschke said while the sex was consensual, the woman had been deceived by a person she trusted when Matthews had decided to film her without permission.

Magistrate Rodney Madsen said Matthews’ betrayal of trust of the woman was “significant”.
“It’s fairly easy for people to do this now, cameras are getting smaller and smaller,” Mr Madsen said.
“But there’s some effort and enterprise in putting those cameras in the roof and gaining access to it.
Matthews was convicted and sentenced to three months in jail, which was wholly suspended for 12 months.
