Police investigate after 60+ tyres slashed at BYD Maroochydore

Police are investigating after a BYD dealership that has opened in a popular Queensland shopping centre lost more than 60 tyres in a slashing incident.

A Sunshine Coast car dealership has lost more than 60 tyres after they were slashed in a night-time attack.

Police were notified after the BYD Maroochydore dealership at the Sunshine Plaza lost several tyres in the incident last week.

It occurred at night between July 17 and 18 on Southern Dr, Maroochydore, where several of the dealership’s cars are held.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were investigating reports of multiple vehicles having their tyres damaged.

She said investigations continued and anyone with information or CCTV was urged to come forward.

It is believed 62 brand new customer tyres were slashed belonging to 26 vehicles, which translated to about $45,000 in damage.

It is understood the costs would be covered by insurance.
