A woman who was involved in a fatal crash that killed Kenilworth man Kerry Bowe allegedly had a blood alcohol reading of more than five times the limit.
Police charged a 51-year-old Sunshine Coast woman following the Balmoral Ridge fatal crash on May 27, 2021.
The 71-year-old was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition but died days later on May 31.
Mr Bowe’s death sent shockwaves through the small town who remembered him as a “great mate who looked after everyone”.
The Forensic Crash Unit investigated the incident and this week laid charges on the woman.
Police allege a four-wheel drive was travelling on Landsborough Maleny Road when it struck with a ute that was waiting at a stop sign on Maleny Montville Road about noon.
The woman allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.276 per cent and was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and driving under the influence.
The woman is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on August 30.
