A young man is helping police with their investigation after a Coast supermarket worker was allegedly held up at knifepoint during an armed robbery.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the Spar supermarket on Main Street in Palmwoods about 10.25am on Monday, July 6.

She said a man had allegedly gone into the store and approached the cashier asking for money and cigarettes.

“He’s (allegedly) intimated he was armed with a knife but didn’t fully produce it,” the spokeswoman said.

“He’s (allegedly) then reached over to the cash register and grabbed cash before running away and leaving in a vehicle.”

The spokeswoman said a 21-year-old man was assisting police with their investigation but no charges had been laid.
