Naked man spotted running through the streets of Beerwah

A Sunshine Coast man who police say went for a morning jog in the nude, clad in sunglasses, joggers and nothing else, has landed himself in hot water.

The man was arrested by police on Greber Rd, Beerwah.

It wasn’t the crack of dawn, but the crack of a morning jogger Beerwah motorists claim they saw on Saturday morning.

Witnesses say a man wearing just a pair of sunglasses, joggers and nothing else, was running through the streets of the Sunshine Coast hinterland town about 7am Saturday, October 14.

Numerous phone calls were made to police over the streaker who was seen legging it down Greber Rd.

Mel Collingwood was on her way to the shops when she said she sighted a bare-bummed jogger.

“I saw more than I bargained for on the Saturday morning drive to get groceries,” she said.

Carolyn Smith also saw a stark naked man in her travels.

“I said to my son he was naked and he convinced me he was wearing khakis, guess I was right,” she said.

Jimmy Lee claims he saw a streaker who had a marker pen drawing of an appendage on his limb.

“I saw him come out of Greber Rd heading to town, he had a nicko drawing on the side of his top leg as well,” he said.

Another social media user reported seeing the man being taken into custody by police.

“I saw the police put him in the paddy wagon,” they said.

“Sounds like he had a big night.”

Police will allege the 35-year-old man was found “completely naked” and was “possibly under the influence”.

“Police were initially called to Greber Rd, Beerwah just after 7am on Saturday following reports of a man causing a disturbance,” A Queensland Police Service spokesperson confirmed.

“Officers arrived a short time later and took a 35-year-old Beerwah man into custody.”

The Beerwah man has been charged with one count of public nuisance and is set to appear at the Caloundra Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 1.
