Mooloolaba robbery: Avenue J Jewellery broken into by thieves

Detectives are on the hunt for three people after they smashed their way through a Mooloolaba jewellery store and stole thousands of dollars worth of items. WATCH THE VIDEO:

Three offenders armed with sledgehammers have stolen thousands of dollars worth of jewellery during an audacious robbery in Mooloolaba.

CCTV footage captured about 4am on February 25 depicted three people using weapons to break display cases at Avenue J Jewellery at the Zanzibar Resort.

In the video the offenders break two shop windows and snatch as many items as they can before fleeing off screen.

One person momentarily returns to retrieve one of their sledgehammers they had left behind.

The trio, dressed in black and grey and wearing balaclavas and gloves fled on foot toward Mooloolaba Esplanade.

Police are appealing for witnesses, including those with CCTV or dashcam footage in or around Mooloolaba Esplanade between 3.30am and 4.30am on February 25 to come forward.

Sunshine Coast CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield said Avenue J Jewellery were still doing an inventory of the items stolen.

Avenue J Jewellery declined to comment when contacted by the Sunshine Coast Daily.
