Meridan Plains man arrested after Ocean St gun incident

A Sunshine Coast man has been arrested after he allegedly pulled a gun on a group of men and pressed it against someone’s head following a chase from a popular nightclub precinct.

A Meridan Plains man has been arrested after he allegedly pulled out a revolver and pressed it against a person’s head after a fight in Ocean St.

Police were called to the Safe Night Precinct about 11.15pm Sunday to reports of an alleged assault between a group of men in Maroochydore during which a Meridan Plains man allegedly produced a revolver at a nearby undercover car park.

Police allege the 34-year-old man threatened the men who chased him to his car.

It’s alleged by police the Meridan Plains man then pressed the gun against another person’s head before fleeing the scene in a car.

Officers were able to arrest the 34-year-old half an hour later, where police allege he was found with several grams of cocaine.

He was charged with two counts of dangerous conduct with a weapon, driving under the influence, assault, possessing drugs, possessing tainted property and unlicensed driving.

The man is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning.
