A Rebels bikie member has faced court after a violent outburst towards a woman holding a baby.

Kevin Lindsay Murray will spend the next nine months on probation after he pleaded guilty to three domestic violence offences including wilful damage and common assault.

Murray, 65, was collecting his property including two horses from an address on January 27, 2022 when an argument broke out about where the pick up point was.

Police prosecutor David Hoffman said the woman was holding a baby when Murray started yelling at her and pointing his finger at her face.

“She stated he then poked her in the forehead with his finger hard causing immediate pain to her head,” Senior Constable Hoffman said.

The woman said she nearly dropped her crying baby when Murray tried to grab her arm and snatch her phone.

“ … (Murray) grabbed her mobile and tried to break it by bending it in half,” a bail document stated.

“(He) then threw it to the ground and stomped on it three to four times resulting in the phone being bent and smashed.”

The document stated Murray was running towards another person with his fists up when police arrived and arrested him.

He was taken to Maroochydore Watchhouse while kicking the rear of the police van.

A bail document stated Murray was a current outlaw motorcycle gang member with the Rebels Sunshine Coast Chapter.

Senior Constable David Hoffman said Murray had limited criminal history and suggested a suspended prison sentence or a large fine.

Solicitor Belinda Robinson said the 65-year old was medicated for anxiety and depression after suffering a difficult upbringing.

“His emotions were on high at the time (and) a verbal altercation broke out and turned physical,” she said.

Ms Robinson said Murray was extremely remorseful, had entered an early plea of guilty and had limited unrelated history.

She asked for a large fine to be imposed.

Magistrate Rod Madsen noted Murray’s early plea, remorse and co-operation with police.

He described Murray as being very embarrassed by the “stupid” decision.

Mr Madsen said while the assault was not overly serious it did cause the woman pain.

He placed Murray on a nine-month probation order.

Given Murray’s limited criminal history Mr Madsen did not record a conviction.
