Brutal Noosa fight caught on camera

A Caloundra man could’ve caused an explosion with a cigarette while he was inhaling stolen LPG gas cylinders under a bridge on the Gold Coast Hwy.

Caloundra Magistrates Court heard Joshua David Doyle, 34, had been inhaling the toxic fumes while smoking a cigarette in Broadbeach on May 15, 2021.

Police prosecutor Stu Lydford said concerned members of the public called police about Doyle’s behaviour.

Sergeant Lydford said officers found the Caloundra man sitting around nearly a dozen 9kg gas cylinders.

Doyle told police he had stolen the cylinders from a shop nearby and had been inhaling the fumes.

The court heard in a separate incident the 34-year-old had been found with a 1m-high marijuana plant at his Moffat Beach home on December 11, 2021.

Defence lawyer Neale Tobin said every time Doyle becomes homeless he “turns to the gas” and had suffered brain damage from using it.

Doyle pleaded guilty to causing a common nuisance, unlawful possession of stolen property and producing drugs and was sentenced to two months’ jail, suspended for six months.

Convictions were automatically recorded.
