A Gladstone man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into the Maroochydore police station and a nearby business.

Jay Matthew Lauder did not apply for bail in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court after his alleged escapade, which led to him causing havoc in the Maroochydore Police Station on Wednesday morning.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said it was alleged the 39-year-old gained entry into the Cornmeal Pde facility in Maroochydore and damaged an office inside.

“The man has then left the facility before breaking into a Horton Pde business, before officers arrived and took him into custody,” the spokeswoman said.

“No one was physically injured during these two incidents.”

Lauder, from the Gladstone suburb of Clinton, was charged with two counts of enter premises and commit and one count each of wilful damage of police property, trespass, driving under the influence of liquor and wilful damage.

Duty solicitor Rachel Holland appeared on his behalf in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday after he was refused police bail.

Ms Holland asked for his matters to be adjourned to Monday as he was currently “very unwell”.

Magistrate Rod Madsen adjourned the matter to February 3 and Lauder was remanded in custody.
