Rolling Rock club owner reveals new rules following Noosa assault

The new owner of Noosa’s glitter strip nightclub is warning of harsh punishments for drug use and violence following a recent late-night assault.

The new owner of a Noosa Heads nightclub has vowed patrons who engage in criminal activity at his venue will be “barred for life” when it reopens later this year.

Rolling Rock co-owner Ken Woods revealed his tough stance following an assault that happened outside the venue.

“Violence, anti-social behaviour, drunkenness, drugs and drink-spiking are a thing of the past in and around this venue,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

“If anyone wants to test me and my team and they are caught, or if they are suspected they will be removed from the premises and the area – there will be minimum bans for drunken behaviour, but as for the rest it is zero tolerance.

“You will be barred for life.”

Video footage of two people police would like to speak to was released earlier this week after a 20-year-old man was approached by a man he did not know outside the nightclub about 1.40am on Saturday, September 23.

The 20-year-old was assaulted and fell and hit his head on the ground while the other man fled on foot.

The injured man was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Mr Woods said that new rules would come into force when it reopened as the Aqua Lounge and Nightclub.

“There will be rules, restrictions and dress code standards that all need to follow,” Mr Woods said.

“We will give you a world-class entertainment venue that is comfortable, stylish and affordable with great entertainment that is serviced by professional and friendly staff, management and security.”

The co-owner of the nightclub – which will close for renovations for a month – said he was glad the victim was not “seriously hurt” and hoped for his “good health” in future.

In the video footage, one man wearing a black shirt and khaki pants is seen standing outside the venue before he jokingly gets into a fighting stance and then wanders around the area.

Another man, with a distinct tattoo on the left side of his neck and wearing a black shirt and grey pants, is seen leaning on a railing and winking at someone before he swings at a couple walking past.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said an investigation into the incident continued.
