A detective was allegedly dragged along the road while arresting a 31-year-old man who police say was driving a stolen car through a Coast neighbourhood.

Sunshine Coast Property Crime Task Force officer Peter Hocken said a search for a Toyota Kluger that had been stolen from Nambour a few days earlier came to a dramatic end about 5.40pm Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Hocken said Nambour detectives came across the vehicle on Webster Rd.

He said an officer tried to arrest a man driving the Kluger.

"During that arrest, the person … has continued to drive that vehicle to evade arrest," Sgt Hocken said.

Sgt Hocken said the detective needed stitches to his hand.

Footage of the arrest posted to social media showed a detective pull open the door of the Kluger after it crashed into a four-wheel-drive that was parked in its path.

The footage showed a struggle as more police joined in to drag a man from the driver seat of the Kluger.

He said a 23-year-old Nambour woman who had allegedly fled from the Kluger during the arrest had also been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The Nambour man's matters were due to be mentioned in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon.
