Allegations have emerged about a Sunshine Coast real estate agent who is accused of breaking a teenager’s leg and trying to lure young girls to his penthouse with the promise of cocaine.
This publication can reveal Christopher Glenn Sales faces serious charges where police allege he tried to supply girls cocaine before he broke a young boy’s limb in a fight outside Mooloolaba Surf Club.
He was originally refused bail in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court following his arrest in March, however, he has since received Supreme Court bail. His charges remain before the courts with no pleas entered.
The extent of his allegations was revealed in court documents where he faces charges of grievous bodily harm, common assault, attempted supply of drugs to a minor under 16, attempted to supply drugs and possessing drugs.
He was recently charged with an additional offence of supplying dangerous drugs in early June.
Court documents state that police investigations began on January 21 when a teenage boy spoke to the Maroochydore Child Protection Investigation Unit.
He told police he was allegedly assaulted by Mr Sales after the 40-year-old tried to speak to young female friends of his at Mooloolaba.
Following a back and forth between the teenager Mr Sales, they allegedly agreed to fight besides the surf club.
It’s here police allege the pair fought before the Aroona man picked up the boy and “slammed” him on the ground and fell onto him.
Court documents state the teenager broke his leg and heard a “snap”.
Police claim the boy was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital where he was treated for a fracture to his tibia and fibula.
The boy claimed he had a rod inserted into his leg and was in hospital for days. He also said he required surgery.
Police allege a video was taken of the incident which showed Mr Sales and the boy fighting however the grievous injury was not captured in the footage.
Detectives say they identified Mr Sales as the suspect in the footage, according to court documents.
Bail objection documents state two teenage girls also provided statements to police on January 27 where they raised further allegations which stemmed from the same night.
One of the girls told police she drove her car to Mooloolaba about 10pm the same night with friends when she began to have issues with her car. Mr Sales spoke to the group and told them he was a mechanic, the documents claim.
Following a brief conversation the girl told the 40-year-old they were leaving when he allegedly said, “come stay with me, I’ll look after you and take care of you”.
They drove off but stopped nearby to speak to some more friends when Mr Sales came to chat once again, the documents claim.
Police allege Mr Sales took out a small bag containing cocaine and asked the girls to do drugs with him and not the boys.
Court documents state Mr Sales allegedly said he had a penthouse in Mooloolaba and if she did not want to do drugs he also had drinks at his place. He also allegedly gave another girl in the group the same proposition.
During their conversation, a girl alleged Mr Sales gave her an unwarranted hug for “about 15 seconds” without her consent.
She alleged the hug made her feel uncomfortable and again asked if she would go with him to his penthouse to do cocaine.
Both girls were shown a photo board after their statements and identified Mr Sales as the man they spoke to, police allege.
Following investigations by police, they ascertained Mr Sales was staying in a unit in Mooloolaba where they executed a search warrant and allegedly uncovered 2g of cocaine.
He was taken to the Maroochydore watch-house and charged.
In their objections to bail, police raised allegations of harassment to the community when he attended night clubs or licensed venues.
Police said in the documents their case against Sales was strong which included him being positively identified from a photo board, witness corroboration of the alleged attempted drug supply partnered with video footage of the alleged assault.
He was refused bail by magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist on March 18 however was later granted bail in the Supreme Court at Brisbane.
Mr Sales’ matters was briefly mentioned in court on Monday where a further adjournment was sought by his defence team from Potts Lawyers on the Gold Coast.
The case will return to court at a later date.
