A Sunshine Coast based bus company will face court in July after they were charged over a horrific crash which killed two young mechanics in 2022.

CDC South East Queensland Pty Ltd have pleaded guilty to one charge of with failing to comply with a health and safety duty – category 2, which means the company exposed a person to risk of death, serious illness or injury.

The charge comes from a horrific fatal crash on Nambour Connection Rd at Woombye on April 21, 2022, where two of the company’s mechanics, Aaron Pitt, 25, and Lleyton Bartlett, 22, were struck and killed by driver Kelly Renee Liddicoat.

The two men were repairing a broken down CDC bus on the side of the road when the crash occurred.

Liddicoat was found guilty of one charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

She was sentenced to six and a half years behind bars, but will be eligible for parole in April 2026.

CDC’s matter has been listed for sentence in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 8.
