Caloundra West man Luke Lawson faces court charged with Wurtulla house fire
A Sunshine Coast man has faced court on fresh charges following a devastating house fire that gutted a family home and left the residents without their house, possessions or car.

A Caloundra West man will remain in custody over the weekend after being charged with more offences following a devastating house fire on the Sunshine Coast.
Luke Justin Lawson did not appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday on new charges including two counts of arson, driving without due care and attention and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The 37-year-old was arrested on Wednesday morning hundreds of metres from the scene of a house fire in Baroona St at Wurtulla.
Emergency crews converged on the scene after a car fire spread to the home, forcing several people to escape the home.
They weren’t physically injured however the home was gutted by the blaze and was uninhabitable.
The residents lost most of their possessions in the blaze.
Lawson was found by police patrols that morning in his blue Holden ute that was parked on Wurley Dr, around the corner from the fire.
Police allege multiple firearms were found in Lawson’s car and he was arrested.
Detectives allege Lawson was known to the residents.
He was initially charged with enter dwelling and commit, possess explosives, and two counts of possessing a weapon and briefly faced court on Thursday however had his matters adjourned to Tuesday to await further charges.
Duty lawyer Alex Collins acknowledged the fresh charges Lawson was facing on Friday which included arson, and said there would be no application for bail.
Mr Collins asked for the remaining matters to be adjourned to join the rest of his charges on Tuesday.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist allowed this and remanded the Caloundra West man into custody.
