Caloundra West man charged after alleged stabbing neighbour

A Caloundra West man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his neighbour, who remains in intensive care.

A Caloundra West man has been charged with the attempted murder of his neighbour, after police allege he used a hunting knife to stab the 45-year-old in the neck, back and chest.

The 42-year-old man handed himself into police at the Pomona station about 11am on Thursday after police released an image of a man they said could help them with their investigation into the stabbing of a 45-year-old man on Wednesday, April 13.

He has since been charged with attempted murder and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

The Caloundra West man has been denied police bail and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Saturday April 16.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield from Sunshine Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch said the 42-year-old man had allegedly stabbed his neighbour in the backyard shed of the victim’s Moreton Bay Dr, Caloundra West home.

Police are searching for a 42-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his 45-year-old neighbour in Caloundra West.

The victim remains in intensive care with “significant and serious injuries” after he was allegedly stabbed by the 42-year-old man in the neck, chest and back with an 8cm hunting knife.

Sergeant Mansfield said the victim was also suffering a punctured lung.

Sergeant Mansfield said the pair were known to each other.

“We believe there was some altercation or some words were said when our victim’s wife arrived home and she parked in the street,” he alleged.

“(The accused man) didn’t like where she parked apparently, he’s then approached the husband at the back of the property and he (allegedly) stabbed him.”
