Bruce Hwy traffic chaos as motorists leave Sunshine Coast on Labour Day
Motorists are experiencing traffic chaos on the Bruce Hwy as people leave the Sunshine Coast, after an earlier crash triggered a major logjam.

Motorists leaving the Sunshine Coast are reporting huge volumes of traffic southbound on the Bruce Hwy heading towards Brisbane.
A build-up of traffic could be seen on traffic cameras situated on the Bruce Hwy and Johnston Rd at the Glasshouse Mountains and at Beerburrum about 12.30pm Monday, May 1.
Many took to social media to share photos or comment on the traffic build-up.
“Why would you wanna be anywhere else,” one commenter said about three lanes of traffic at the Glasshouse Mountains.
Fellow commenter Michael Preston said he was glad of a late check-out.
“Hoping it clears a little in the next hour,” he said.
“Assuming these are all the 10am checkouts?!”
Other commenters bragged about their early leave time to avoid the traffic.
There was one reported traffic crash on the intersection of Frizzo Rd and Sippy Creek Rd, which emergency services were still attending about 12.15pm on May 1.
Paramedics also treated two patients each in a serious condition following a two-vehicle crash on the intersection of Dales and Chevallum roads, at Chevallum, just before 1pm.
