A 15-year-old boy has been charged over a stabbing on Noosa’s glitter strip on Sunday morning, police have confirmed.
The teenager is accused of attacking a 25-year-old British backpacker after an early morning altercation at a bus stop on Hastings St in Noosa on July 16.
Police have confirmed the boy has been charged with unlawful wounding and is expected to appear in the Maroochydore Children’s Court on Wednesday, July 19.
Police will allege the teenager had a verbal argument with the backpacker, which escalated when the teen returned with a bottle and a knife and stabbed the backpacker in the wrist and back about 4am on July 16.
The backpacker was then rushed to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
A spokeswoman for the hospital confirmed on Monday he has since been discharged.
The alleged attack came a month after Noosa grandfather John Kerr was allegedly murdered on the same street, with locals saying it’s safer in major cities than their own town.
