A man who was arrested on Wednesday afternoon following an alleged string of offences including stealing cars and dangerous driving has faced court.

Aaron John Robbie, 34, will remain in custody following his appearance in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.

Speaking to media on Thursday, Maroochydore Criminal Investigations Branch officer-in-charge Daren Edwards said the Mountain Creek man was arrested after police allege he threatened another man at knifepoint, demanding the keys to his vehicle at a Gardak Street address, before fleeing the scene on foot about 3.30pm on Wednesday.

Senior Sergeant Edwards said Mr Robbie was apprehended a short distance away.

He said the man also allegedly attempted to force a 25-year-old woman out of her vehicle on Tuesday.

"It started off around 8pm on Tuesday night near the Alex Surf Club, a lady parked her vehicle, went and used facilities, and returned to her vehicle," he said.

"The male was acting suspicious, he (allegedly) got in her vehicle and tried to force the woman out of the vehicle with the intent of stealing it.

"Fortunately she's remained in possession of her keys and called for assistance of some nearby people and he (allegedly) fled from that area."

Senior Sergeant Edwards said the man allegedly stole a Mazda hatchback from Mountain Creek which was later crashed.

It was located damaged at Marra Court.

Senior Sergeant Edwards said the man allegedly stole a Holden Commodore from another address late Tuesday night.

" … while a male was sleeping he stole the keys and the vehicle," he said.

"He drove that around, that's now been abandoned in paddocks opposite the racecourse area."

Senior Sergeant Edwards said the owner of the Commodore found the car with the engine still running.

The man also allegedly forced entry into a Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba address just before 3am on Wednesday and stole a Holden wagon.

Police allege the man also stole a Toyota ute from a business at Tandem Avenue, Warana on Wednesday.

He was allegedly seen driving dangerously at multiple locations around the Mountain Creek, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore areas, evading police attempts to intercept.

Senior Sergeant Edwards said the Toyota was equipped with a GPS system which helped police track the ute to Gardak Street.

"He was tracked to an address where he then (allegedly) entered the house and threatened the owner with a knife and attempted to steal another vehicle," he said.

"Fortunately uniformed officers were able to arrest him there."

Mr Robbie appeared in court charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of attempted robbery, one count each of burglary, evade police, enter dwelling with intent and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Magistrate Rodney Madsen adjourned the matter to July 2 for a committal mention.
